Frequently Asked Questions

Cost and Payment

Q. How much does a website cost?

There are many aspects that factor into the cost from concept through implementation. These costs can vary widely depending on what your project needs are and how long we estimate that it will take to complete the project. Please contact us to get a cost estimate for your website work.

Q. Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we do. We ask our clients for a 50% deposit on all projects, to be paid before work begins on the website.

Q. Do you take credit cards?

No, we don’t. Our preferred method of payment is by check, although we also accept payment by Paypal if circumstances warrant it.

Timeframe

Q. How long will it take for you to finish my project?

Like anything creative, designing a great website takes time. It can take from a few weeks to a few months (or more) to completely design and launch a new website, depending on the project. In general though, how soon your website work can be done done depends on a number of things, such as:

  • The size of your website
  • The complexity of your design
  • Any advanced features you need
  • When your content is ready
  • Our current client design schedule
  • Your timely feedback and input on our work

Design Process

Q. Do you provide wireframes?

Yes, we do. We provide wireframes to our clients for every project we work on once a contract has been signed. These wireframes are the first step in our design process, and once we show them to you and come to an agreement about the design, they’ll be the basis for your new website.

Q. How many revisions can I make to the design?

We try to make the most informed decisions when it comes to creating a design for your website, which is why we really get to know you, your market, and your audience before we prepare wireframes.

Once the wireframes are agreed upon, we’ll start actually building your website for you to see. At that point, we ask that there be no more than one (1) major revision to the design. Naturally you’ll have smaller changes and additions, but at that point, we consider the overall structure and design of the website to be set.

If you request too many changes to your design, or if you request changes to the design after the entire site has been formatted with the template, you will incur more charges.

Communication

Q. Do I need to hire a “local” web site designer?

Unlike other businesses, whether or not your web designer is in the area makes little difference. All the information we need to design your website can easily be communicated through email, over the phone, etc.

Even with our local clients, we only meet face-to-face on an occasional basis; most of the correspondence takes place by phone and email. taking place by phone and e-mail.

The most important point is that we maintain a close working relationship with all of our clients, whether you are local or not. This way, even if you are not located near one of our offices, you can be assured that your web site will still be of the highest quality.

We’ve worked with clients who are local, out of state, and out of country, and have never had any problems completing a project. No matter where they’re located, we try to maintain a close working relationship.

Server Setup

Q. Do you provide website hosting?

No, we don’t. If you don’t already have a host, we’ve worked with a number of hosting providers and can give you some recommendations if don’t have a hosting provider already.

Q. Do you register domain names?

No, we don’t. We’ll be more than happy to give you some advice on what your URL should be and give you some recommendations for where you can register a new domain.

Website Maintenance

Q. Can I see how many visitors I have to my website?

Yes, you can. We can set up a free Google Analytics account for you, which will automatically record information about your website’s visitors.

Q. Can I update my own website, or will you do it?

We encourage our clients to maintain their own websites once they’re launched. If your website is built with a content management system such as WordPress, then we’ll make sure you know how to use it once your website is ready.

Generally, we expect there to be minor updates within the first 30 days after launch, so those are free. Updates after that are $50/hour (or we can negotiate a maintenance plan with you), although we won’t nickel and dime you on updates – if you need something like an address or phone number changed, we don’t charge you.
